  • If you plan to teach classes or purely study yoga in the training – you will take your practice and understanding to new levels!
  • Join us for the teacher training on Sundays (8am-1pm) We take all holiday weekends off.

Details:

  • Director: Rhonda Kantor: BSN, BS, RN and Board Certifications: HNB-BC, HWNC-BC and Yoga Registrations: E-RYT 500, RPYT, YACEP, Founder and director of Global Yoga Center.
  • Instructors: Yoga Alliance Registered Senior Teachers from in and out of state and expert instructors in the specialty they focus on (example: Rita Knorr, Anusara Certified Instructor, travels from Florida).
  • Program Length:  We meet for 5 months to meet the 200 hour Yoga Alliance requirements. Because this program is well paced and over a good amount of time, the Global Yoga Teacher Graduates are ready to teach when they complete this program. Any classes missed will need to be rescheduled with the director. Additional fees may apply for make up hours.
  • Class Size:  We limit the training to 15 students to ensure professionalism, private attention and high quality of the training. This is a unique feature of our program!
  • Yoga Styles:  We are able to offer many styles of Hatha Yoga in the training due to the varied backgrounds of our specialty instructors. The pose alignment focus is based on traditional Hatha Yoga but you will get classes in yoga forms of Kundalini yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Mantra and Chakra Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Prenatal yoga, Meditation, Pranayama breathing forms and much more.
  • Specializing in Teacher Training for more than 17 years:  The instructors and I have refined this training for many years now and planned this coursework to be exciting, dynamic and unique. The learning and teaching experiences are quite transformative and we welcome all levels of students in this training program.
  • Includes vinyasa & prenatal workshop:   Our 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training includes vinyasa and prenatal teacher training.  180 Hours of classroom learning and 20 hours of elective study and student teaching combine to meet the guidelines for the Yoga Alliance Registration for Yoga Instructors (200 hours in total).

Basic 200 Hr Course Outline: The Teacher Training Program: Based on Yoga Alliance Requirements

  • Techniques: 100 hours. Training and Practice of Asana – Hatha Yoga Poses, Hatha Yoga principles, Pranayama Breathing Techniques, Chanting, Kriyas and Meditation and Yoga Therapeutics for special needs (Props and Modifications). You will also receive classes in forms of Prenatal and Vinyasa yoga.
  • Teaching and Methodology: 25 hours. Demonstrations, Observations, Adjusting and Communication, Instruction, Teaching practice and Class Sequencing.
  • Anatomy and Physiology: 20 hours. Physical Body Systems and Structures, Subtle Energy Body (Nadis and Chakras), Location, Common injuries and knowledge of the bones and muscles.
  • Philosophy and Ethics: 30 hours. The Yoga Sutras, The 8 limbs of Yoga, Yoga Philosophy (including Koshas, Gunas, Doshas, Elements) Ethics for Yoga Teachers, Marketing and Business for a Yoga Career, Liability and Legal Concerns, Lifestyle and Practice, History of Yoga, Living your yoga and Intro to Ayurveda & Wellness.
  • Practicum: 10 hours: Student Teaching, Observation, Assisting in Class.
  • Electives: 15 hours: Drawn from the other 5 categories: Home work study, Classes and Workshops, Karma Class Service, Prenatal and Vinyasa study.

Student responsibilities include:

  • 2 book Reports, Midterm and pose review
  • Complete Weekly Homework/Mini Open book exams
  • Practice, Participation and Attendance
  • Outside attendance in yoga classes with reviews
  • Final Teaching Exam and Evaluation
  • Karma Yoga Class and Eval
  • Complete readings from the required books

  • Pre-requisite:  Attendees must have completed (or be currently enrolled in) a 200 Hour teacher training prior to enrollment in this 10 Hr Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training workshop.
  • Instructor:  This is a great opportunity to study with Rhonda Kantor, founder and director of Chicago’s most well respected prenatal yoga program.

  • Topics include: Pregnancy anatomy and physiology, asana modification, designing a prenatal yoga class, flow based yoga, sequencing, poses to avoid and why, partner work, breathing and relaxation poses, integrating pregnant women into your mainstream classes and much more. You will be given a certificate of completion that outlines the hours in the areas of study for your continuing education paperwork.
