Teacher Training Courses


Hatha Yoga:
New students: Level 1: This class and level focuses on basic body alignment, breathing techniques, form, the names of poses and achieving familiarity with traditional hatha yoga. This class promotes concentration, flexibility, strength and endurance while quieting the mind.

Advanced beginners and intermediate: Level 2-3: This class offers more challenging poses while building on the basics. This level of yoga helps the student refine their knowledge and includes flow yoga and sun salutation practice. This class promotes concentration, flexibility, strength and endurance while quieting the mind.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga:

All levels available: Traditional yoga poses are linked together using the breath and movement to produce internal heat, cleanse the body and quiet the mind. The pace is more challenging and flow based yoga and Sun Salutations are practiced. There is no set sequence to the class. The instructor sets the sequence of the class each week personalizing the class to the students attending. This practice quiets the mind while toning the body and building endurance, flexibility and strength.


 

Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series:
For intermediate students: The sequence of poses is always practiced as traditionally taught. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures. A highly challenging physical yoga practice integrating postures and breathing in the Primary Series sequence. This aerobic practice quiets the mind while toning the body and building endurance, flexibility and strength. An exhilarating and energizing class that is best suited for those seeking a physical challenge.

Hatha Yoga & Meditation:
For all levels of students: Don’t just do something, sit there! Integrates traditional hatha yoga postures with breathing techniques and meditation practice to promote flexibility, self-awareness and stress reduction. The class focus is on calming the mind and relaxing the body. Learn stress reduction and relaxation techniques that you can use all week long.

Pre-natal Hatha Yoga:
For all levels of students: A safe and gentle approach for women in all trimesters of pregnancy. This class focuses on body alignment, basic breathing techniques, posture and form, the names of poses and achieving familiarity with traditional hatha yoga. The poses are sequenced and modified for pregnant women to practice. This class promotes concentration, flexibility, strength and endurance while quieting the mind and preparing for labor and birth. Props are often used and are provided by our studio  (blankets, mats, blocks and pillows) and poses are modified for the comfort of women throughout their pregnancy.

Labor Positions and Childbirth Support:
For couples in the third trimester: This class is a two-hour workshop led by Rhonda Kantor. In preparation for the birth experience, couples have the opportunity to practice comfort positions for labor, birth and pushing positions, yoga poses and the use of props, abdominal breathing, partner support and relaxation techniques. You will learn hands on techniques and a chance to teach your partner how to be a great labor support coach. Pre-registration required. Childbirth Education For Couples:
For pregnant couples: A 2 class series for couples to learn about birth and preparing for the birth process. Each session includes discussion, relaxation and labor support techniques, lecture, videos and demonstrations to educate, empower and prepare couples for a healthy pregnancy, a positive labor experience and (if desired) techniques for a natural childbirth. Teacher Trainings:

Course 1: Full Training: For all levels of students:Advance your practice and/or learn to teach yoga to others. Pre-registration only. Program begins Sunday Feb 5th 2017. 200 Hour Yoga Alliance registered school and program.

Course 2: Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training for Teachers only! Offered all year, please check back often or call for schedule. 10 hours of Continuing Education credit hours for those teachers interested in integrating pregnant women into regular yoga classes or teaching prenatal yoga classes.
